Actually, it was dancing, shopping, and having fun!

Saturday Nights in San Saba was a huge success! Dee George from The Daily Mix said it was awesome! You usually see lots of cars in the area, but Saturday night, there were people walking. People were dancing. Tables were set up by the live music area in front of the Estep-Burleson building, and everyone was having a good time! She said, 'It was worth staying open just for the fun of it; and I made a little money to boot!'

She noted there were lots of people out. She knew most of them, but there were some visitors. She did note that teens were out shopping. There many people with shopping bags, and they were disappointed that some stores were not open. Hopefully, since there was so much shopping traffic, more stores will be open next month.

Mrs. George remarked that Regina Baker, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, put a lot of work into the event.

Update on the Event from the Chamber: The San Saba County Chamber of Commerce held its first Saturday Nights in San Saba last weekend, and it was a great success. Participating businesses stayed open from 5-8 p.m. Along with the tax-free weekend, businesses offered various promotions from specials and giveaways to free drinks. Pecan House Grill graciously allowed the Chamber to have Mark Scott play live music in the Estep-Burleson courtyard and provided tables and chairs. To spite the heat of the day, there was a lot of traffic, and several businesses reported that they did very well. This new event will take place once a month on the second Saturday of the month through November. On September 9th, Colt Wayne Keeney (sponsored by Smile Doctors in Brownwood) will be playing at Wedding Oak as part of the Saturday Night event.
