HPU confers degrees to graduates; two local

Howard Payne University recently awarded 149 degrees at Commencement ceremonies held for August 2022, December 2022, and May 2023 graduates. Degrees were presented by Dr. Cory Hines, HPU president, and other university personnel. The ceremonies were held on May 13 in HPU’s Mims Auditorium.

July 13, 2023 Receipts totaled 3,779 head. Demand was strong with a very good active market. The stocker steers were $8-$12 higher, and stocker heifers were $4-$14 higher. Feeder steers were $7-$14 higher with 5 steers 885 lbs at $216.00 ($1911.60) and 40 steers 730 lbs $227.00 ($1657.10).

Oh what a summer. And we are only a third of the way through it. I keep reminding myself that we are past summer solstice so each day is fractionally shorter than the one before—a week from today, daytime will be ten seconds shorter than today. That is a little something to hold onto.
