The Dude Be Nice Committee of our high school National Honor Society proudly announces our selected candidate for February. This committee serves to acknowledge individuals within our school and community who exemplify outstanding acts of kindness, integrity, and hardworking ethics.

For this month, we shine a spotlight on Caitlin Mays, a sophomore at San Saba High School who recently moved from Georgetown. Caitlin is an exceptional individual, demonstrating active involvement in both her previous and current schools. A standout athlete, she excels in tennis and holds a position on the varsity team as a sophomore. In her own words, she shares, 'My main sport is tennis, and I'm particularly interested in it because my dad played and has been my own personal coach, which has been a pretty cool experience.'

Beyond her athletic pursuits, Caitlin serves as an officer for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and actively participates in Young Life. Currently, she is a dedicated team member in a seven-week fundraising campaign for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, passionately raising funds for blood cancer and cancers in general.

Caitlin's involvement extends to academic endeavors, where she engages in various UIL events such as Ready Writing, Literary Criticism, and Mathematics. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, baking, and cherishing moments with family and friends. Despite her busy schedule, Caitlin consistently radiates kindness and offers assistance to those around her. It is with great pleasure that we recognize Caitlin for her remarkable dedication to academic excellence, community involvement, and the joy she brings to those in her midst. She truly embodies the spirit of the Dude Be Nice Committee, and we commend her for being an inspiration to us all.
