Richland Springs fire destroys downtown structures

Last Thursday, February 10th, local Volunteer Fire Departments (VFDs) united between 11:00-11:30 a.m. and bravely fought a raging fire downtown Richland Springs. Richland Springs VFD called out and welcomed the assistance of Elm Grove and San Saba VFDs to battle the blaze.

The fire of unknown origin started in the building at the corner of Hwy 45 and Main Street. It quickly spread to the structure next door which was the City’s Water Department, as well as some equipment/supplies. The fire gutted both buildings.

No occupants were in the buildings. None of the local VFD personnel suffered injuries.
