How many folks are expected to travel for the eclipse?
On the VERY LOW END, 500,000 to 1.5 million into Texas alone.
Why are WE expecting so many people?
It’s early April which is usually not too hot, not too cold, not too humid. The bluebonnets and wildflowers are out. It's a peak for migration; the bats are out. It is usually not too cloudy. When people are looking for places to go for a total eclipse, they are also looking for a place they can go to enjoy themselves. If it is cloudy, they have more to do.
How long will they be here?
Emergency Management Coordinator Marsha Hardy said that is a very tough question. It is hard to know what people will do - when they will come, how long they will stay, and what route they will take. Ms. Davies said to make sure you have everything you need, just plan on a bad ice storm coming to town. Try not to plan anything the week before or the week after the eclipse.
