Receipts totaled 4,007 head. The cash market continued to move higher even with the futures market moving downward some. The demand was very strong for all classes of cattle as our number of cows in the country hits a record low therefore less calves being raised.

2024 State Pecan Show Results

Results of the 2024 Texas state pecan show were announced Sunday, July 20th, at the 104th Texas Pecan Growers Annual Conference in Denton, Texas. There were 193 entries from the three regional shows (East, West, Central) representing 47 pecan varieties, including natives and variety seedlings.

Darrel Lackey works for the City Street Department, and he was selected as June Employee of the Month. He was given the award honored at the July 8th City Council meeting by the Street Department Supervisor, Luis Rios.

Hwy 16 S fatal crash, south of Simpson Creek

Lunchtime on Monday was very active for our First Responders in San Saba.According to the Sheriff's Office, there was a single-vehicle rollover on Hwy 16 quite a bit south of Simpson Creek, almost to the pipeline.There were two individuals in the vehicle.

Disaster Recovery Center update

The Disaster Recovery Center (DRC), located at the San Saba Civic Center in Mill Pond Park, will be closing on Monday, August 18th!Starting this week, they will be closed on Sundays due to the lack of citizens coming to see them.
