San Saba Garden Club meeting

The San Saba Garden Club met for their first meeting of the new club year on Tuesday, September 2, in the home of Betty Jo Fisher. Normally, club meetings are held in the historic clubhouse in Mill Pond Park.

Since the floods, the San Saba News & Star has been updating our readers on many businesses in town and how they are doing since the flood.There is another side we would like to share with you. There are many businesses that were not directly effected by the flood. Their business was not flooded.

Jail evacuated, then vacated

Saturday, September 6th, both dispatchers got extremely lightheaded, dizzy, and nauseous. They started feeling sleepy. They knew something was wrong. They let the deputies know.The deputies went over to the jail and immediately identified an odor. They called Atmos Energy out to investigate.

Weekend car fire at Stripes

Cindy Prater was in her office at San Saba Realty on Wallace Street this past weekend when she heard a voice on a loud speaker telling everyone to 'get away from the pumps!'When she went outside to see what was happening, she saw a car on fire across the street at the middle pumps at Stripes.

Jordan Cattle Auction

San Saba September 4, 2025Receipts totaled 2504 with no sale being held at Mason on Monday due to the Labor Day Holiday. A choice offering of cattle were on hand with the stocker steers selling $10-$15 higher with 8 steers 428 lbs at$580.00 ($2482.40) and 42 steers at 534 lbs at $475.00 ($2536.50).
