As a teacher, one of my greatest challenges was trying to find a way to maintain student engagement day-in and day-out. Where I finally found success with engaging students was when I learned to create opportunities for students to take control of their own learning.

My daughter Jenny gave me the best early Christmas gift Saturday, December 2nd. We went to the Licking County Humane Society animal shelter by Newark, Ohio and 2 year old Dinah selected me! The shelter named her Fiona after she was pickup up 8-22-23 alongside the road with newborn baby kittens.

In any sporting event there is one team that loses and one that wins. We all hope our team will be the victor, but for the Coyotes Saturday the win slipped away. Two goal line fumbles would have tied the game, some uncalled fouls, and a very skilled opponent left us on the short end of the score.

Rotary Club members gather for Christmas party

A Christmas party filled with joy and Christmas music was held at the old San Saba Hotel on Thursday evening, November 30th. A large crowd of more than sixty people from the San Saba and Brady, Texas chapters of Rotary International met at the lovely old San Saba Hotel at 6:00 p.m. Thursday.

Volunteers Appreciated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church

On November 16, 2023, St. Mary’s Catholic Church held an appreciation dinner for all the San Saba Football Concession Stand Volunteers on the front line or behind the scenes. The dinner consisted of enchiladas, rice, beans, salad, pork street tacos, and for dessert: peach cobbler and ice cream.

I remember the first time that I ever heard that those two words were considered offensive by some. Blew my mind almost as much as when I found out that “grape nuts” had nothing whatsoever to do with grapes or nuts.

Fishing takes Faith

We spent the Holidays with our family hanging out together and fishing. I had a great time! That trip reminds me of a fishing trip I went on years ago. Standing on a riverbank where the water was shallow and kinda muddy where we saw other fishermen nearby, but they were not catching much.
