Volunteers Appreciated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church

On November 16, 2023, St. Mary’s Catholic Church held an appreciation dinner for all the San Saba Football Concession Stand Volunteers on the front line or behind the scenes. The dinner consisted of enchiladas, rice, beans, salad, pork street tacos, and for dessert: peach cobbler and ice cream. For several years volunteers have operated the concession stand for the local football games, providing hamburgers, fries, nachos, etc., etc. for the fans. This year required many more volunteers to service the stand for the 15 Junior High, Junior Varsity and Varsity home games of which many the temp was “hot”. These volunteers prevailed the heat and still smiled while serving the fans, a service that deserves recognition.

St. Mary’s appreciates the contribution given by these volunteers, the community, individuals, and businesses as without them, St. Mary’s would not have had a successful season. San Saba Twice the Ice proudly supporting Dillo Athletics, donated all the ice to these concessions, providing more ice than normal this season due to the extreme hot temperatures. Fans could enjoy their COLD drinks due to Twice the Ice’s generosity. Fans also enjoyed the delicious hamburgers seasoned with Bill’s Seasoning, donated by Donna Shahan. On the Rocks Liquor, Agave Jalisco, Capital Farm Credit, Diane Wood, and Lowe’s Market also contributed, donating other supplies for the concessions. St. Mary’s greatly appreciates all these volunteers, note that it takes many individuals to make this work and their generosity is recognized.
