MOE 7/8 traveled to the Austin Sports Center in Cedar Park Texas on Saturday, May 9, 2026, and picked up their fifth consecutive “Not on Mother’s Day” shootout basketball tournament championship. In the previous years, MOE had tournament championships in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025.

CHURCH NOW IN 65TH YEAR–The Roman Catholic Church in San Saba is now in its 65th year of service, according to the pastor, the Rev. Father Harry Leonard O.M.I. It was built in 1891 of lumber hauled from Austin, and was named St. Mary's Catholic Church. The building is located on West Wallace street. From the May 17, 1956 issue of the San Saba Star

114 Years Ago May 16, 1912W. L. McNatt was in town. He says the rain and hail ruined his fruit, melon and other crops last week. He says it was the most destructive storm they have had in that section in 27 years. He says he is at work replanting and in a short time he expects to have a good crop.
