We have an old hay barn, and we finally removed the old hay. And under it were lots of mice. It was sure nice to see the clean barn for a change, but I noticed that two owls have moved in and stay up in the rafters. I read that they may live up to 25 years and hunt at night. Oh yes, they love mice. They have become known as a bird that represents intellect, or there is that old saying, “wise as an owl”.
Those owls remind me of something in the Bible. The Bible has a lot to say about wise or unwise people. To be wise, there must be a reverence or fear of God, and the earth and the universe declare His handiwork or greatness, (Psalm 19:1-6, 33:4-15).
Also, we must pay close attention to God’s Word, the Bible, (Psalm 1:1-6, 19:7-11, 119:9 & 11; 2 Timothy 3:16). But a giant problem we must resolve is that we all have sinned against God, (Romans 3:23, 6:23). Part of the solution is by asking God to forgive our sins, (1 John 1:9 & 10). Then, we must put our faith or trust in Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross, (John 1:12, 1 Peter 3:18).
A wise person will draw near to God and obey; a foolish person just chooses to ignore God and go his own way, (Ephesians 5:14-17, Proverbs 3:1-8, John 5:24). See you in Church next Sunday.
