August is upon us, and the heat is no joke…or is it?!. I think I just saw a dog chasing a cat, and they were both walking. ;-) Ba dum dum On to real news, S. A. Baxter was the Grand Marshall at the San Saba Rodeo Parade last week. He is a homegrown Bend resident and still farming at the age of 93. He was driven by Brad Williams of San Saba, Texas, in the parade. What an honor it is to know such a dedicated, hard working man!
Laura Beth Henniger is not at Lometa ISD this year; she is now with Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Laura Beth says “it’s groups of coaches and leaders trying to bring Christianity into sports.” Laura Beth plans on attending Cosmetology school in January.
Speaking of school, it is back in session. River Harris of Bend, Texas, is now in the 8th grade at Lampasas Jr. High. She will also be celebrating her 13th birthday on September 1st. I, Brandie Henniger, have started my Fall semester at CTC.
Thank you to Carrie (Clark) Keeney for filling me in on everything that was mentioned in church on Sunday.
Charlene Brister is in San Saba Rehab to regain her strength after another battle with double pneumonia. Jane Clark has her good days and her bad days, but her foot has gotten so much better that they are talking about an outpatient skin graft soon. Elsie Dean, Shirley, and Doug Messer all had birthdays this past week. I hear that Tommy Marley is still getting by pretty well. She is 93 (I believe) and going strong, but said she is doing better since getting shots in her back. Patsy Henniger’s newborn greatgranddaughter in California is having some breathing issues. She remains under a doctor's care. Hopefully it’s the mountain altitude causing it, Carrie reports. J. D. Bynum, son of Stephen and Denita Bynum, is stationed in Bahrain in the Middle East. Please keep him and these mentioned ones in your prayers.
Until next time, Brandie from the Bend
