Again, I am responsible for all my Musings and actually, I am proud of Musings because I try very hard to ensure my thoughts are based upon integrity and actual facts. Ethics! Sounds kind of pompous, doesn’t it? I try very hard NOT to make things up, and I strongly do NOT approve of disinformation, one of the vain glorious side effects of our modern social media!

Making something up and then repeating it over and over again does not make it truth. It just means it is an oft-repeated falsehood. Quoting Johnny Cash again, “What is truth?”

Do you use Google? I do, and I encourage you to fact check using Google. When I question, again as Socrates told us to do so many centuries ago 400 years before Jesus Christ, I do so because I want to learn. I use Google because while I am familiar with some or most of the information, I want to check it again lest I may have gotten something wrong. At any rate, I try very hard to check to ensure facts are correct and to verify history.

As an example, I knew the former president had taken bankruptcy several times before he ran for president in 2016, which calls into question Trump’s supposed business acumen. Google it! He took bankruptcy six times! Wow! Lordy, how is that being smart in business? It just means he inherited a lot of money which he jeopardized multiple times, and he had to fall back on banks and the bankruptcy courts to avoid paying his debts.

Hey, I don’t know about you, but I pay my debts! I also pay my taxes! Estimated tax payments are coming up again in a little over two weeks. I will pay mine again. Sometimes it’s hard but still necessary! Good citizens pay their taxes!

Honesty, a great American quality. Naivete again on my part, right? I recently challenged Senator Cornyn, on his Capitol voicemail, to be honest. I met him about 20 years ago, and he struck me then as an honest man. I hope I am not disappointed. Oh, how I miss Senator John McCain, a hero and, better still, an honest man! A man of good conscience! A Republican, yes, and a good American! Let us hear it for honest men and women, Republican and Democrat alike!

Going back to the former president, did anyone notice that August 13th passed peacefully? No transition of power!

Looking back at recent news, I am proud of our American ability to have rescued more than 114,000 Americans and Afghanis from Kabul! Do you remember when the Kurds, our allies in Iraq, were hung out and left to dry by the Trump administration? Not this time! Thank you, the American military and Mr. Biden!

I grieve for the loss of our Marines this past week and the innocent men, women, and children killed and injured by the evil that is ISIS-k! Like Mr. Biden, I echo, “We will not forgive. We will not forget”! 9-11 looms ever closer to us in September! It was evil that caused that tragedy then and evil that has caused the 20 years since. God bless America, and God bless our troops still in harm’s way!

One news item in which I was interested this week is the ruling by Federal Judge Linda Parker of the Eastern District of Michigan whereby she determined that the nine attorneys attempting to prove fraud in the election had not done “due diligence” in bringing their lawsuit. These attorneys were remanded back to their home states for possible punishment and disbarment, including Texas’ own Sidney Powell. Lawyers are supposed to be honest. I guess lacking that, we have the oft-repeated quote of “shyster lawyers.”

Goodness! Sorry! I am being sanctimonious today! Speaking truth can do that to me! On the home front, good friends and good family always make life worthwhile! Pray for those suffering and dying with the Delta variant! Instead of screaming against masks and vaccinations, wouldn’t it have been simpler to just take the shots?

I am so glad my friends, family, and I are all vaccinated and safe! Pray for the innocents who, because of age, are unable to take the vaccinations! Pray for their teachers who have to attempt to teach them and to make up for the educational losses of last year! Pray that we will not face another year of little or no schooling!

Thanks also to the friends who have been telling me they appreciate Musings! Peace be unto you! Have a good week.
