Alice in Wonder Land

Today, I will write this article and send it to The News office and spend the rest of the day taking down and putting away my Christmas decorations. The tree is small, four-feet high on a round stand at my front window in the living room. The ornaments are from years of Christmas exchange gifts at Singing Women of West Central Texas and an angel from member and dear friend, Karen. It has brought me special memories and comfort, so I will miss the tree until next year and every day miss singing with those special singing women since I moved to Ohio. I sent out 100 Christmas greetings and received 40 cards and phone calls, three cards unable to forward and one new address.

Because of the weather conditions, the following meetings or appointments were cancelled: doctor's appointment, Wednesday service at Northgate Dresden, lunch with my niece Tina and the Widow's Group. So it was great to have dinner with my daughter Jenny and husband Bill on Friday.

After church Sunday, I stopped at my sister-in-law Flora's home in Dresden. She was preparing a meal for her cousin Aloma's family. Aloma is recovering from a stroke. Then I went to Frazeysburg, 20 minutes from Dresden, and visited Samuel Purtee's son Jason and his family. I gave Jason photo's that I took at Sam's funeral and also a photo I took four years ago of Sam, my husband Larry and Jason's family.

The program I had scheduled at the Primrose Retirement Community on Valentine's Day was rescheduled for February 21st. It was rescheduled be cause couples residing there are renewing their vows on Valentine's Day.

Tomorrow, I will enjoy lunch with my classmataes in Dresden and then Bible Study at the Condo Community building across the street from where I live in Zanesville, Ohio. The rest of the week will be preparing for my trip to visit my granddaughter and family in Franklin, Tennessee, and writing the Alice in Wonder Land for the February 10th edition.

Paul the Apostle wrote: 1st Corinthians 1:28....God has chosen the world's insignificant and despised things – the things viewed as nothing – so He might bring to nothing the things that are viewed as something. (Holman Christian Standard Bible) and Alice adds...many times God brings something out of nothing......
