Yesterday, it started snowing shortly before going to church in Dresden, 15 minutes from where I live in Zanesville, Ohio. It was still snowing 'flurries' after church, so I did not visit my sister-in-law, Flora, in Dresden because of road conditions.
My dear friend, Mirla in San Saba, gave a mattress set away to someone in need trusting that God would supply the funds to buy one to replace it. God did supply a mattress, in fact two sets, because I gave them to her from my home in San Saba. One set remained on her porch where a man knocked on her door and asked if it was for sale. He wanted to buy it because he had been sleeping on the floor. Mirla was overjoyed to be able to give it to him explaining how God supplies our need.
My daughter Jenny picked me up last Saturday for brunch at the Cracker Barrel. A block away from the restaurant, the car started smoking, but she was able to drive into the parking lot and call her husband, Bill. Bill arrived shortly after we enjoyed our lunch and was able to take care of the situation. We are thankful that this happened so close to the restaurant, and we were not stranded.
It is 11:45 a.m. and I looked outside and it is snowing AGAIN! I looked at the forecast, and it will be a 'light' snow until 5:30 p.m. So I am going to finish this report after lunch and take Ellie to get the mail before it snows inches......Whew! I am back from getting the mail and having a white and brown dog. With a shake, she is just brown again. Ellie doesn't mind the snow, but I am still adjusting. She doesn't even bark at the deer that come just before dark in front of our condo to get some kind of small berry from trees that have fallen in the snow.
Last evening, I made plane reservations to go to Franklin, Tennessee, to visit my granddaughter and her family the weekend of February 4th. This trip was planned last month by car but cancelled because I was sick. I am praying it will not be cancelled again because of s-n-o-w.
This week's busy schedule is a doctor's appointment, Wednesday church service, condo lunch at Pizza Cottage, lunch with my niece Tina and dinner with Jenny Friday, and Saturday a Widow's Group meeting. I must remember in my busy times what or Who I am living for. Have I gone backwards instead of forward? What is God's will and plan for me? Pastor Mike ended his sermon Sunday by challenging us to be God's hands, feet and mouth with compassion to a very lost world.
