I attended a 4th of July parade last Saturday in Gratiot, Ohio. We lived around 1 1/2 miles from Gratiot on a farm with a sawmill and 54 acres from 1977 to 2006 when we moved to San Saba, Texas.
Food was available at the firehouse starting at 4 p.m. and the parade at 6:30. The town is around the size of Richland Springs, well, more like Cherokee actually. Some of the people attending this event I had not seen for around 30 years so we all looked different. My son-in-law, Bill, had a float in the parade and I ate with friends I knew and daughter, Jenny, joined us to watch the parade.
On Monday, I prepared my first meal in my new home for guests Todd and Zeta Payne. I found out the thermostat on my oven is not working properly. I baked the roast an hour longer and it was not tender.
Yesterday, I went to Dresden (my hometown just 12 minutes away) and ate with my classmates, Jefferson Jay Hawks Class of 1959. There were 12 of us, six classmates and their spouses or guests. I will plan to go there every first Tuesday of each month.
I so enjoyed Edward & Diana's visit with me. They came again to take some things to Pastor Tom and Cynthia and also some of Larry's books.
Yesterday, I was notified that a trash can was missing from the garage next to mine. I checked and oh my! I brought the wrong one back inside my garage. How embarrassing! I could be known as the trash can bandit.
This Christian life is gloriously difficult. During the difficulties, I will overcome and not faint or cave in by the power of the Holy Spirit. Do I get an AMEN?
