The 9th Annual “A Night at the Museum” is Saturday!

Celebrating Texas Independence Day on Saturday will have an extra treat this year. There will be a toast followed by a cannon salute to Texas Independence Day. The “Texas Dare-Devils” reenactor cannon crew will be firing the salute with their custom-made replica cannon. They will be on hand all afternoon to meet you and answer questions.

Saturday afternoon, the street between the Museum and Gazebo will be closed to traffic. Parking will be available to the north and south of the event. City of San Saba personnel will provide rides from the distant parking areas.

At the ticket tent, you will receive a program listing the times of the various speaker presentations which will all be given in our Honors room. We have three very interesting programs for you. At 4:15, Scott Dunbar will talk about San Jacinto veteran, Sion Bostic, his 3rd great grandfather. About 4:45, Steve Ashley will share stories of his great uncle Carlos Ashley. Grant Hall will share the findings made by him and his associates during a dig at Mission San Saba around 5:15. Along with our guest speakers, you will also be able to view artwork done by San Saba High School art students this year.

Meanwhile, at the Gazebo, Kay Lynn Scott’s students will begin performing at 4:30 and then the band at 5:30. The Chili dinner with all the fixings will be ready around 5:00. At 6:15, there will be a toast to Texas Independence Day followed by the cannon salute.
