The Richland Springs Report

I watched in dismay this last week as the Friday storms blew back the roof tin on my old house. The last big rainstorm did the original damage, but I couldn’t quite figure out how to make the repairs. Not many people want to climb an old two-story house to fix a holey tin roof.

Disappointment

A new friend asked me if I was a Dallas Cowboys fan to which, I responded, “Yes, I am, and yes I am used to disappointment.” Sometimes, we get our hopes and expectations up just to have them come crashing down. Years ago, I had an opportunity for a promotion.

State Capital Early voting for the general election ends on Friday, Nov. 4, with the closely watched governor’s race pitting incumbent Governor Greg Abbott against challenger Beto O’ Rourke headlining the ballot.

The Richland Springs Report

Saturday was the soft opening for the new RS Bo Ho Unique. Overall, the comments were positive, and everyone who came in bought something. There is something for everyone. I will be making little Christmas baskets with items from their store.

Hill Country Naturalist

The name of this column, “Hill Country Naturalist,” was chosen in part to indicate that, to the extent that I have any particular expertise in matters of the natural world, it is pretty much limited to the Hill Country.
