FOR PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, beginning on February 11, 2021, San Saba County was under imminent threat of severe damage, injury or loss of life or property resulting from, Prolonged Freezing Temperatures, Heavy Snow, Freezing Rain, and Extended Power Outages.
WHEREAS, on February 12, 2021 Texas Governor Greg Abbott pursuant to Section 418.014 of the Texas Government Code declared a State of Disaster in all 254 counties of Texas due to severe winter weather, and pursuant to Section 418.017 of the Texas Government Code the Governor authorized the use of all available resources of state government and of political subdivisions that are reasonably necessary to cope with this disaster; and
WHEREAS, after visiting with area city mayors, law enforcement, emergency management officials and others, it is clear that our community is facing a serious threat from this winter storm. Weather related damage is already occurring in our community and our current weather situation is deteriorating. Conditions are expected to worsen over the next several days, with unbearably cold temperatures settling in and more wintry precipitation expected. Road conditions are already treacherous; and
WHEREAS, The San Saba County Judge has determined that extraordinary measures must be taken to alleviate the suffering of people and to protect or rehabilitate property,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE COUNTY JUDGE OF SAN SABA COUNTY that:
1. A local state of disaster is hereby declared for San Saba County pursuant to §418.108(a) of the Texas Government Code; and
2. Pursuant to §418.108(b) of the Texas Government Code, this Declaration of a local state of disaster shall continue for a period of not more than seven days from the date of this declaration unless continued / renewed by the Commissioners Court of San Saba County,
3. Pursuant to §418.108(c) of the Government Code, this Declaration of a local state of disaster shall be given prompt and general publicity and shall be filed promptly with the County Clerk of San Saba County.
4. Pursuant to §418.108(d) of the Government Code, this Declaration of the local state of disaster activates the San Saba County Emergency Management Plan.
This Declaration shall take effect immediately from and after its issuance.
