On Thursday, March 12, the Pierian Study Club met for our monthly meeting. It was a beautiful afternoon, and there was a large group that gathered at the San Saba Hotel. We were greeted by the hostesses: Audrey Smith, Catherine Hanrahan, MarjeanAlexander, and Margaret Henslee. Refreshments were served while we visited. We had our committee reports and then Cissy Williams called to order our business meeting. Nominating committee chairman, Martha Leigh Whitten, announced the upcoming slate of new officers for the following two years. It was decided that the reporter's position would be changed to include social media coverage as well as reporting to the local paper. Leah Oehrlein, Chairman of the Entertainment Committee, informed us that the theme for our end of the year party will be something western.
We then moved into the Gold Room for our program, Grit and Games, where Margaret Henslee gave an introduction and instructions for playing the popular game of Mahjong. If you've never played, it is not something you pick up in a matter of minutes. We had a lot of laughs and am glad we had the experience of this popular trend.
Our next meeting will be Thursday, April 9, in the home of Margaret Henslee. New officers will be installed. Hope everyone can attend!
