Many of you will read the above story and think, 'what a shame,' go on with your daily business, and possibly not give it another thought. Others are greatly impacted by the news because you knew the ones involved or, like one of our column writers this week, are related to someone who didn't make it.
Then, there are some who were there. Watching. Trying to help. On the phone with witnesses. On the radio with first responders. Closing roads. Detouring traffic. Taking care of detours. Pronouncing the victims deceased. Cleaning up after the fact. Contacting family members with the horrific news.
These folks had to ignore their personal feelings and emotions to take care of the situation.
These people cannot just forget this ever happened. It will impact them for a very, very long time.
