Dear Editor,
I would like to shout out a great big thank you to the citizens of San Saba County [and some who came in from other counties] for the great blood drive that was held on Tuesday, July 7th!
This was our first blood drive since January. As with everything else, our April drive had to be cancelled due to COVID-19, and we had 33 people come to donate. With six who had to be deferred, San Saba County was able to send back 27 units. I am very proud of everyone who willingly came out in the heat and humidity to donate for those who so desperately need the help. There are new rules and restrictions, and we only had nine who had called or gone online to schedule appointments. But we had 24 walk-up donors who helped with our quest. Remember that any units collected are always a most welcome contribution to our local community. I believe that the patients who will be impacted by this drive are fortunate that we have such a giving community of donors.
