Please consider voting in the upcoming San Saba ISD bond election. What is proposed for a value of $18M:
1. A new band hall – 1/3 of our secondary students participate in band. The current band hall does not have adequate space/ accommodations to support this level of participation.
2. A new multi-purpose facility – More than ½ our secondary students participate in sports, but we cannot accommodate this level with current facilities. The new building will allow scheduling of more events and a safe practice space in bad weather.
$18M is a lot of money, but the district can cover this without an increase in taxes. You will see a conflicting statement on the ballot because recent state legislation requires “THIS IS A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE” to be included on all school bond ballots, even when the district is not expecting a rate increase. So, please remember this when you consider how to vote.
Important dates:
1. Deadline to register to vote – April 7. Voter registration information/forms can be obtained either at the County Clerk’s Office or online at <https://www.co.san-saba.tx.us/page/sansaba. County.Clerk>
2. Early voting – April 25 through May 3.
3. Election day – May 7.
