Dear Editor,

A man in our local grocery store last week surprised me with a gift of groceries. We were both in line; he motioned for me to go ahead. Then he told the checker to not take my money, that he was paying for my groceries. I said, "No, no, no," but he said, "I'm over 21 and I do pretty much what I want to do." So I thanked him and thanked him.

I'm here to tell you there are wonderful people in San Saba. I did not know this man, but he insisted on paying. The checker told me, "It was my lucky day," but I believe in "Random Acts of Kindness." My daughter called it a more modern term of "Paying it Forward." This was the first time for me to experience a "Paying it Forward" gift. Who would want to live anywhere else?
