Dear Editor,
Thank you for still allowing opposing views to be expressed in your newspaper. As we see our first amendment rights and freedom of speech taken from us, we see our county becoming like other socialist countries where only the party line is tolerated and those with any other view are labeled as dissidents. Even social media is shutting down people who express views that conflict with their own.
It is essential that one must thoroughly research information in order to discover truth. People believe that if three or four mainstream media outlets agree on their information, it must surely be true. If that is correct, then what are we to think when three or four other news outlets agree together on their news, and it is not in agreement with the first three or four? Just because news outlets may agree with each other, that doesn't mean the news is true. Many different news media often receive all their information from the exact same source, so it is not unusual that the news sites would be in agreement with one another. It is also unfortunate but true that some media sources even use their public forum as a means to propagate their views and influence policy.
Often people refuse to investigate and consider any information that doesn't agree with their own opinions and politics. Hence, we have a very divided nation where people, including politicians, will not listen to anyone who expresses differing perspectives. In a place where truth is no longer unchanging, but rather based upon the political correctness of the day, the sincere search for genuine truth becomes more challenging than every before.
Thank you for allowing your readers the exercise of expressing opinions, even when those may be different from your own.
