Pfluger tells Pelosi: Let House vote to halt vaccine mandates
On the week of December 15th, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) signed on to a letter urging Speaker Nancy Pelosi to immediately bring the bill to nullify President Biden’s vaccine mandate for private businesses (S. J. Res. 29) up for a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives. S. J. Res. 29, the Congressional Review Act, passed the Senate by a vote of 52-48 on December 8, 2021. Congressman Pfluger joined Rep. Fred Keller (PA-12) in introducing identical legislation in the House.
Rep. August Pfluger: “Although President Biden’s vaccine mandates have been rightfully halted by the courts, Congress has the responsibility to strike them down for good. The bill is supported by every Republican in the House and already passed the Senate. There is no excuse for Speaker Pelosi delays on this bill that will protect the livelihoods of countless Americans who are facing losing their jobs if they refuse to take a vaccine.”
Pfluger Joins Bill to Block Foreign Citizens From Voting
Thursday, December 16th, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) joined South Carolina Republican Jeff Duncan in introducing the Protecting our Democracy by Preventing Foreign Citizens from Voting Act to block federal funding for state and local governments that allow non-U.S. citizens to vote.
Rep. August Pfluger (TX-11): “In yet another shocking, nonsensical move, the liberal haven of New York is now allowing more than 800,000 non-citizens to vote in their elections. This is ludicrous with blatant election security implications. I am proud to introduce legislation to prohibit federal funding for states and localities that allow illegal immigrants/noncitizens to vote.”
The Protecting Our Democracy by Preventing Foreign Citizens from Voting Act would:
1. Prohibit federal funds from going to any state or local government that allows foreign citizens to vote in any Federal, State, or local election;
2. Require, upon application, approval, and receipt of any federal funds, the state or local government must certify they do not allow foreign citizens to vote; and
3. Make the measure effective on or after the date of enactment.
