Pfluger Votes Against Unconstitutional Gun Control Measures
This week, week of June 9th, Congressman August Pfluger voted against H.R. 7910 and H.R. 2377, two unconstitutional gun restriction bills. He spoke on the House Floor opposing the measures and presenting common-sense solutions to increase school safety.
"M. Speaker,
I rise today as a Texan, a father of three young girls who go to school, and a defender of Constitutional Rights.
This isn't just about "doing something," this is about doing something that matters.
The horror of school shootings is an unforgivable tragedy due to the evil we see in people. There is room for bipartisan solutions, but Democrats don't want to make Law, they want to make politics.
Republicans offered an alternative bill that would fund school resource officers and mental health counselors, close gaps in school security, and strengthen active shooter preparations, with all costs being offset by unused state and local COVID funds. Unfortunately, it is being blocked by House Democrats.
There is nothing more important than ensuring our children are safe. I know this because I take my children to school-drop them off and pick them up. But in no way are the recent tragedies justification for the Left to infringe on the rights of lawabiding Americans.
I won't support legislation that results in those rights being stripped without due process. This is an emotional issue, but it's our job to step back and have an adult conversation."
Pfluger Condemns President Biden’s Inflation Crisis
Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) released the following statement on the record-high inflation statistics released Friday morning, June 10th.
Representative August Pfluger: “Another month. Another poor inflation report for President Biden. Families are paying more for basic goods while wages continue to shrink. It is sobering times for Americans, and Congressional Democrats are shirking their responsibilities to address this crisis.
“It’s time for the President to take responsibility for his poor economic record and change course. I stand ready to offer real solutions that put American workers and local businesses first. Inflation is at a 40-year high, and Americans are fed up.”
Pfluger Demands Answers from Mayorkas on Releasing Illegal Migrants in San Angelo
Monday, June 13th, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) sent a letter to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas following the news that the Biden Administration was considering dropping off buses of illegal migrants in San Angelo, Texas.
In the letter, Representative Pfluger presses Secretary Mayorkas for answers on releasing illegal migrants by stating, “San Angelo is a welcoming community, but the locality has not volunteered for this mission, nor are they responsible for the burdens of the border crisis. This situation is a direct result of DHS' shortsighted policies that encourage more illegal immigration and the agency's failure to establish operational control of the southern border.”
He also asks Secretary Mayorkas a series of questions relating to DHS’s process of selecting drop-off locations and notifying local communities.
