Pfluger: Biden Hands Power to Putin

Wednesday, May 19th, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) released a statement condemning President Biden’s decision to hand Vladimir Putin a major global win by waiving sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 pipeline, which allows the Putin regime to bypass Ukraine in exporting natural gas to Western Europe—drastically increasing Russia’s power over the continent and the globe.

“President Biden is handing Vladimir Putin a direct path to power over the global energy market by loosening sanctions on Russia,” said Congressman August Pfluger. “The Nord Stream 2 Pipeline will be wielded as a tool of coercion against our allies and partners, threatening security on the continent and abroad. Waiving sanctions puts the United States and our allies at risk. I cannot fathom how it is in our national interest to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline, which would have brought over ten thousand jobs to American citizens, and now helping Russia build Nord Stream 2.”

Today, Congressman August Pfluger offered an amendment in the House Foreign Affairs Committee markup that would have solidified sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 Pipeline. Although the amendment was not adopted, Congressman Pfluger received the commitment of a senior Democrat member of the committee to work with Republicans to ensure the malign influence project is not completed.

COVID-19 Origins Must Be Investigated

Wednesday, May 26th, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) released a statement calling for an immediate investigation into the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic:

“There is mounting evidence that the COVID-19 pandemic, which has tragically claimed millions of lives and wrecked our global economy for over a year, originated in a Chinese lab and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) covered it up. President Trump and Secretary Pompeo raised concerns of a COVID-19 lab leak in April of 2020, yet social media companies and traditional news outlets censored the story due to their vitriol hate for our former President.

“There can be no more denying. The United States must immediately launch our own independent investigation into the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic. If the CCP is indeed found responsible for the leak and cover up, they must be held accountable on a global level for the needless loss of life.

“Democrats in Congress should immediately join Republicans in our call for an investigation. The American people, and all those around the world who have lost loved ones, deserve answers.”

Pfluger Opposes President Biden’s Bloated Budget

Friday, May 28th, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) released a statement denouncing President Biden’s $6 trillion budget proposal for fiscal year 2022:

“I am wholly opposed to President Biden’s exorbitant $6 trillion budget proposal, which would bring spending up to levels we haven’t seen since our Nation was fighting in a world war. Biden’s out of control spending and anti-growth agenda weakens our hand against China and will harm our economy, small businesses, and rural America. We must steer away from these dangerous policies that will raise taxes, skyrocket inflation, and lower paychecks for American families.”

Pfluger Sets Markers for Next Farm Bill

Last week, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) submitted a letter to the House Committee on Agriculture during the committee’s Member Day hearing. In the letter, Pfluger advocates for several initiatives paramount to farmers and ranchers in the 11th District of Texas: investing in rural broadband and predator control, protecting the safety net, promoting global trade opportunities for U.S. producers, and fighting back against President Biden’s crippling tax hikes that will decimate family-owned operations.

The letter reads, in part, “Farm and ranch production systems are not only critical for our local, state, and national economies, but also play a key role in strengthening our National Security … The United States – thanks to smart policies like the 2018 Farm Bill – retains the safest, most abundant, and affordable food supply in the world. Producers in West Texas play a large part in this accomplishment, and Congress should continue to prioritize our rural communities and Texas farmers and ranchers.”
