Monday, February 14th, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) released a statement calling for the immediate resignation of Alejandro Mayorkas, President Biden’s Secretary of Homeland Security:
Rep. August Pfluger: “Secre-tary Mayorkas is presiding over the worst border crisis in history and lying about it to Congress. By breaking federal border security laws, he allowed over 2 million illegal immigrants to cross the southern border along with record-numbers of deadly drugs and illicit materials in only one year. His actions are putting the safety of American citizens in jeopardy. Mayorkas must resign.”
Congressman Pfluger cosigned a letter in recent days calling for this immediate action.

Congressman August Pfluger joined Representatives Garret Graves, Bruce Westerman, Andy Barr, Stephanie Bice, Dan Crenshaw, Jeff Duncan, Brian Mast, and Pete Stauber in sending a letter to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm rebuking false claims of 10 Democratic Senators who asked Granholm and the Biden Administration to limit U.S. natural gas exports in an effort to ease rising domestic energy prices.
The senators asked Granholm to “take swift action to limit U.S. natural gas exports” and argued shutting down U.S. LNG export facilities is “in the best interest of” their constituents. Some of the same senators have called for a banning of American oil and gas production and advocated for more foreign oil production.
In the letter, the Republican Members write: “We want to work with this Administration to reduce energy costs for all Americans, but we have sounded the alarm since day one of the Biden Administration. The hypocrisy could not be any clearer.”
The Biden Administration has projected global energy demand will surge over the next 30 years. Rather than developing an exploration and production strategy that relies on America’s resources, lower emissions, affordable energy and creating economic opportunity, Democratic senators’ flawed policies prioritize the economies of our foreign adversaries and leave behind the blue-collar workers in the Permian Basin.
Pfluger Introduces Midland Over Moscow Act Bill to strengthen U.S. energy independence and make American allies less dependent on Russian oil & gas
Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) introduced the Midland over Moscow Act, a Republican Study Committee initiative to strengthen U.S. energy independence and make American allies less dependent on Russian oil & gas.
“The Midland Over Moscow Act will force the Biden Administration to develop an energy security strategy and fuel the world with American—not Russian—energy,” said Congressman August Pfluger. “It will halt the Nord Stream II pipeline and unleash American liquid natural gas exports to fill the needs of our allies. It is long past time for President Biden to put Midland over Moscow.”
Pfluger’s Midland Over Moscow Act will:
• Force the Biden Administration to develop an energy strategy to counter Russia and strengthen U.S. energy security;
• Reimpose strong sanctions on the Nord Stream II pipeline;
• Reduce the barriers for American energy producers to increase exports of U.S. Liquid Natural Gas.
Representatives Pfluger, Mann, McCarthy Lead Letter Urging President Biden to Hold China Accountable
U.S. Representatives August Pfluger (TX-11), Tracey Mann (KS-01), and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy led 57 of their Republican colleagues in sending a letter to President Biden to make the U.S.-China agricultural trade relationship more balanced and reciprocal.
More than two years ago, the United States and China signed a two-year Phase One trade deal that required China to make structural reforms to its trade regime and import $73.9 billion of U.S. agricultural products in 2020 and 2021 combined. Today, China has failed to live up to that commitment by $16 billion.
“America must enforce our agreements,” said Representative August Pfluger. “I am proud to join my colleagues in calling on President Biden to hold China accountable for their Phase One commitments. This administration must take immediate action and stand up for the agricultural producers that feed and clothe our nation. It’s time to put the United States first and stand up to our adversaries.”
“President Biden either needs to force China to comply with their end of the agreement or punish them for failing to do so. That’s how deals work,” said Representative Tracey Mann. “This administration must address the full suite of issues in a comprehensive and holistic manner and hold the Chinese Communist Party accountable for treating America and its farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers like a doormat. My colleagues and I are calling for immediate action.”
In the letter, the members express their deep concerns with China not holding up their end of the agreement and urge President Biden, U.S. Secretary Thomas J. Vilsack, and U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai to immediately rectify the situation and stand for U.S. agricultural producers. They state that the U.S. must fully enforce the agreement and receive damages from China for China’s failure to perform.
