Pfluger Fights Biden Vaccine Mandate
Thursday, September 30th, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) took several actions to fight President Biden’s radical COVID-19 vaccine mandate.
Together with Rep. Claudia Tenney (NY-22) and other Republican members, Pfluger introduced the Health Freedom for All Act, which clarifies that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) does not have the authority to force employers to mandate COVID-19 vaccines or testing.
Pfluger also sent a letter to President Biden and Biden Administration Health Officials with Rep. Jeff Duncan (SC-03) and 43 other lawmakers highlighting the dangers of imposing COVID-19 vaccine mandates on healthcare workers.
In the letter, the lawmakers note, “Several states are already nearing or exceeding hospital capacity, and many Medicare and Medicaid providers, especially nursing homes, are struggling to hire and retain enough employees to comply with state and federal staffing requirements ... a vaccine mandate will inevitably push a significant portion of healthcare workers out of the industry, putting further strain on providers.” The Members question President Biden about his administrations ability to produce a viable plan that will mitigate workforce shortages while providing exemptions for religious and moral objections. “If your administration is unable to address any of these questions,” the Members note, “we must ask that you immediately halt your efforts to implement this mandate.”
Pfluger Defends Oil & Gas Industry Against Democrats’ Radical Reconciliation Bill
Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) spoke on the House Floor defending oil & gas producers and workers in the Permian Basin from the dangerous antienergy policies in the Democrats’ partisan budget reconciliation bill. Included in the package are harmful regulations and tax increases that will push the United States towards shortages and blackouts.
In his remarks, Pfluger warned that the Biden Administration has put the United States on the path towards an energy crisis comparable to the current crisis in Europe, where multiple countries are experiencing industry-wide shutdowns and preparing for cataclysmic blackouts due to their failed policies and reliance on Russian gas. “Cold, dark, and hungry, is where [our] families will be if we continue along this path,” Pfluger stated. “We cannot shackle our production with illadvised policies and regulations. The Permian Basin … is the reason that every American can enjoy affordable, reliable energy. Energy security is national security, and nothing can be more important.”
Pfluger concluded his remarks by urging Democrats in Congress to vote against budget reconciliation, stating: “Anyone voting in favor of reconciliation is voting against American energy, is voting against the independence that keeps our national security so strong. I urge my colleagues to support
Pfluger Votes NO On Democrat Debt Increase
Tuesday, October 12th, Congressman August Pfluger (TX-11) released a statement after voting no on the Democrat proposal to raise the debt ceiling:
“With nearly $30 trillion in debt and no meaningful plan to reign in wasteful spending, I opposed today's vote to temporarily lift the debt ceiling. Democrats – who control the House, Senate, and White House – have remain committed to enacting the most harmful tax-and-spending agenda in the history of our Nation. I refuse to green-light these harmful proposals that unfairly target our energy industry, fuel further inflation, impose crippling tax hikes on American businesses, and burden future generations with unsustainable debt.
“Our children and grandchildren will be saddled with the burden because of our refusal to address the national debt. It is past time that we develop a real strategy to get our country back on a path to fiscal sanity.”
