Girls 7th grade team wins District Championship tourney in Mason

The San Saba Middle School Tennis Team travelled to Mason on Wednesday, May 10, to play in the District 29-AA Middle School Tennis Tournament. Teams in the district that played in the tournament were San Saba, Mason, Johnson City, Junction, Hunt, and Center Point.

SSGC Poetry and Sculpture Contest State Winners

South Central Region Garden Clubs Youth Awards winners from San Saba Elementary School were 3rd grader, Karlee Dean Towery-Richardson (who now lives in Mason) and Erin Eudy, who is in the 4th grade. Karlee Dean won 1st place and a $20 bill in the 2023 SCR 3rd grade Poetry Contest.

Celebrating High Five!

Three years ago in San Saba Elementary School, Mrs. Dickerson’s class started using a program to help her students K-4th grade with reading. I thought…Maybe another way to keep the students engaged and learning! I will give it a try! To my surprise, the students loved the program!

MOE defends title at Round Rock

MOE 5th/6th (27-2) defended their 2022 championship by winning the 6th Grade Girls Division of the 2023 Magic “Not on Mothers Day Shootout” held at the Round Rock Sports Center in Round Rock, Texas, on Saturday, May 6.

SSHS Students selected to compete at VASE Contest

Four San Saba students attended the Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) in San Marcos April 29th. There were 31.000 art entries statewide and 2,134 were selected to compete at the VASE contest.

I have always been amazed that tiny hummingbirds are capable of migrating across the Gulf of Mexico and down into South America and back every year. They are so small (the average ruby-throat only weighs three grams, a little over a tenth of an ounce), and they have to beat their wings so fast.

Caroline McHam selected as Rotary Student-of-the-Month for May

Rotary May Student- ofthe- Month was awarded to Caroline McHam. Each month, a different senior student is awarded. Awards are based on leadership, character, teacher nominations, and a personal essay written by the student. Recipients are presented to the student body as well as the school board.

American Legion to sponsor Local Student for “Boys State”

The Wiley B. Murray Post No. 27 will be the sponsor of a local student of San Saba High School for the upcoming “Boys State” program this summer. John Ham, currently a junior, has been selected to attend the program, which will be held in Austin from June 11th – June 16th.
