The San Saba All Sports Booster Club is proud to announce that four $500 scholarship will be given out this year to some exceptional student athletes. We are also proud to announce that the annual award is to be re-named in honor of one of San Saba’s finest, the late Scott Miller. Scott was a 1978 graduate of San Saba High School and worked for San Saba ISD for 25 years before retiring in 2018. Not only did Scott leave an everlasting impression on many lives in San Saba, his handy work around the school can still be seen today from making building repairs to painting the 50-yard line at Rogan Field. Scott Miller was truly an Armadillo through and through. Renaming this award in Scott's memory will ensure that he will be remembered for generations by his love of sports and his love for the athletes that compete in them.

Choosing just four recipients for this award was extremely difficult. We used the grading system set up by the Booster Club and the San Saba administration to make it possible to choose the most qualified athletes. The committee was made up of two booster club members, three members of the school administration and a family member of Scott Miller. Applying for the scholarship included a resume from the students and a short essay of how sports have impacted their lives during their four years at San Saba High School. A point system was used to determine the winners of the award. Points were determined on four categories:

1. Number of years and sports the athlete participated in.

2. Overall presentation of the resume.

3. Leadership qualities on and off the field.

4. Essay summary.

Along with the $500 scholarship, all four athletes will have their names engraved on the scholarship plaque, and it will be placed in Armadillo Arena. We will have the winners of the award in next week's paper.
