San Saba's Cross Country looks solid at Brownwood Meet

The San Saba High School girls and boys varsity cross country teams competed on Wednesday, September 1, in the second meet of the 2021 season at the Brownwood Invitational held at Gordon Wood Stadium.

For the Lady Armadillos in the girls’ 3,200-meter run, senior Nojemi Martinez placed 17th in a large field of 181 runners with a solid time of 15:19.00. Lady Dillos sophomore runner Jenna Lambert came in 40th with a time of 15:58.00, while junior Olivia Lusty placed in 75th with a mark of 16:51.00 on Wednesday.

San Saba freshman Destiny Davila placed 135th with a time of 18:28.00, while fellow freshman Selenda Robles came in 156th with a mark of 19:22.00.

As for the Dillos, the boys’ team entered six runners and had some great efforts for the second meet of the 2021 season at the varsity level. Of note in the threemile run, San Saba junior Noah Martinez did solid in 36th place with a time of 20:34.34, while sophomore Justin Hernandez placed 64th out of 137 runners with a mark of 21:58.59.

San Saba sophomore Jose Aguillera came in 77th place with a time of 22:34.03, while junior teammate Everett Eidson placed 86th with a mark of 23:12.20.

Freshman Jordan Whitney placed in 109th with a time of 24:47.66, while Dillos teammate Myles Sanchez was right behind Whitney in 110th place with a mark of 24:48.77.

Up next on their meet schedule, San Saba will take part on Wednesday, September 8, in the 2021 Hico Bluebonnet Invitational meet held at Bluebonnet Country Club.
