The Armadillos (1-3) will open up district 5-2A play this week against the Hamilton Bulldogs (3-1) this Friday at Rogan Field. Some people call it the second half of the season; others call it the real games. Either way you put it, everything from here on out counts.

San Saba vs Hamilton is an old series, you could say. The earliest documented game I have ever found (and first one for San Saba) came against Hamilton in 1916. They were not the Dillos yet, but the hometown 11 won the game 13-6 at the old fairgrounds. The bulldogs come into the game averaging 30.5 ppg while allowing 8.5 ppg (two of the four games have been shutouts). San Saba is averaging 27.5 ppg while allowing 28 ppg; if numbers mean anything, it should be a close game!

Let’s have a look at some use-

less (but always good to know) facts about the team series.

Overall series record – Hamilton leads the series 23-22-1.

Record at Rogan Field – The Dillos hold the lead 13-9.

Largest margin of victory – (54) San Saba won 54-0 in 1991.

Largest margin of defeat – (43) Hamilton defeated San Saba 49-6 in 1977.

Series points scored/allowed at Rogan Field – The Dillos have scored 469 points (33.5 ppg) while allowing 345 points (24.6 ppg).

Bonus fact from last week’s game – San Saba is 0-2 in all black uniforms.
