San Saba Varsity Powerlifting hosts tri-meet

The San Saba High School varsity powerlifting team competed in its third meet of the season and again had standout performers on Thursday, February 4, at the annual 2021 San Saba Tri-Meet with nearby Bangs High School and Brownwood High School in attendance.

For the boys, San Saba had five entries place first in their respective weight classes: Justin Hernandez in the 114-pound class with a total weight of 645 pounds lifted, Gilberto Baez in the 181-pound class with a total of 1,345 pounds, Leonel Aranda in the 220-pound class with a total of 990 pounds, Elias Bessent in the 242-pound class with a total of 890 pounds, and Brendon Morris in the super heavyweight class with a total of 865 pounds lifted.

As for the girls, the Lady Dillos had three girls perform at a high level and take home medals: San Saba 97-pound class entry Makinzey Saldivar with 440 pounds lifted, 105-pound class Kim Butler with 390 pounds, and 165-pound class entry Kynedi Isham with 710 pounds. Each placed first in their respective classes.
