The San Saba girls’ and boys’ varsity basketball teams continued to look sharp in District 29-2A play over the past week as both the Lady Dillos and Dillos picked up victories against Center Point High School and Junction High School.

San Saba Lady Dillos

With the two dominant victories, head coach Alicia Cummings and her very talented Lady Dillos’ varsity basketball squad now sits at 16-0 and don’t intend to take their foot off the gas pedal with highly realistic state championship aspirations.

Last week, the Lady Dillos added two more extremely lopsided victories to their resume as San Saba crushed the Center Point Lady Pirates and Junction Lady Eagles by scores of 76-10 and 69-14, respectively, behind senior Courtnee Cash, senior Brighton Adams, junior Landri Glover, and others.

At 5-0 in District 29-2A play and the No. 3 team in Class 2A this season, the Lady Dillos will have their first of two highly anticipated matchups on Tuesday, January 12, at home vs. Mason High School. The Cowgirls, who are also undefeated at 5-0 in district play and are the No. 12 team in 2A, will be the Lady Dillos’ biggest test to date this season.

The Lady Dillos will then have upcoming games at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, January 15, at home vs. Goldthwaite High School and at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, on the road at Johnson City.

San Saba Dillos

Following three consecutive losses to close out non-district play in December, the San Saba boys’ varsity basketball squad under head coach Mark Kyle are back on the right track with three straight wins to start District 29-2A play.

Over the past week, behind very strong play from both senior forward Logan Glover and junior guard Reagan Mejia, the Dillos picked up two solid victories: 62-28 at home on January 5 vs. the Center Point Pirates and 54- 28 away on January 8 against the Junction Eagles.

Now 3-0 in District 29-2A contests, the Dillos take their 8-3 record on Tuesday, January 12, to take on a winless district rival in the Mason Punchers. San Saba will then play at 8 p.m. on Friday, January 15, at home vs. Goldthwaite and at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 18, on the road at Johnson City.
