San Saba Powerlifting superb at Brady Heart of Texas meet

The San Saba High School girls and boys varsity powerlifting teams were in action on Thursday, February 10, as the Lady Dillos and Dillos competed at the 2022 Heart of Texas powerlifting meet hosted by nearby Brady High School. Teams competing at the meet in addition to San Saba and Brady were Ballinger High School, Bangs High School, Brownwood High School, Burnet High School, Christoval High School, Coleman High School, Early High School, Fredericksburg High School, Junction High School, Lago Vista High School, Llano High School, Lohn High School, Miles High School, and Santa Anna High School.

Lady Dillos

The Lady Dillos placed fifth out of 15 schools from across Texas who entered girl lifters at the meet with one first-place medalist, two second-place medalists, and one fourth-place medalist.

In the 220-pound division, Austyn Graham was outstanding for San Saba as she lifted 925 total pounds with 385 on the squat, 215 on the bench press, and 315 on the deadlift.

In the 123-pound division, Leslie Aguirre medaled in second place as she lifted 620 pounds with 235 on the squat, 110 on the bench press, and 275 on the deadlift. Makinzey Saldivar also earned herself a second-place medal in the 105-pound division as she lifted 565 pounds with 215 on the squat, 140 on the bench press, and 210 on the deadlift.

In the 198-pound division, Carolina Cervantes placed fourth as she lifted 710 pounds with 320 on the squat, 130 on the bench press, and 260 on the deadlift. Dillos

The Dillos were superb last Thursday as they placed first out of 13 teams who entered boys lifters with two first-place medalists, one second-place medalist, one third-place medalist, four fourth-place medalists, and one fifth-place medalist.

In the 275-pound division, Christian Ramirez was the meet’s top overall lifter and placed first in the division as he lifted a whopping 1,500 total pounds with an eye-opening 660 on the squat, 325 on the bench press, and 515 on the deadlift. Also placing first in the 123-pound division was Justin Hernandez as he lifted 710 pounds with 270 on the squat, 150 on the bench press, and 290 on the deadlift.

In the 181-pound division, Zuri Herrera medaled in second place as he lifted 1,145 pounds with 445 on the squat, 275 on the bench press, and 425 on the deadlift.

In the superheavyweight division, Juan Lopez was a thirdplace medalist as he lifted 1,140 with 500 on the squat, 290 on the bench press, and 350 on the deadlift.

Up next, both the Lady Dillos and Dillos will host the second Armadillo powerlifting dual meet on Thursday, February 17, at San Saba High School.
