The San Saba High School girls and boys varsity cross country teams competed on Wednesday, September 8, in the third meet of the 2021 season at the Hico Bluebonnet Invitational held at Bluebonnet Country Club.

For the Lady Armadillos in the girls’ 3,200-meter run, senior Nojemi Martinez placed 14th in a field of 109 runners with a solid time of 13:58.51. Lady Dillos sophomore runner Jenna Lambert came in 25th with a time of 14:17.67, while freshman Destiny Davila placed in 40th with a mark of 14:48.97 on Wednesday.

San Saba junior Olivia Lusty placed 62nd with a time of 15:42.62, while freshman teammate Selenda Robles came in 83rd with a mark of 17:06.87.

As for the Dillos, the boys’ team entered four runners at the varsity level and had some great efforts for the third meet of the 2021 season. Of note in the 5,000-meter run, San Saba junior Noah Martinez did well in 14th place with a time of 18:30.37, while sophomore Justin Hernandez placed 35th out of 102 runners with a mark of 19:58.84.

Dillos junior Everett Eidson placed 47th with a mark of 20:58.41, while sophomore Dillos teammate Myles Sanchez was right behind Eidson in 49th place with a mark of 21:00.80.

Up next on their meet schedule, San Saba will host its own annual cross country meet beginning at 9 a.m. on Monday, September 20, at San Saba River Golf Course.
