The San Saba High School girls and boys basketball teams have been in action this month as the Lady Dillos and Dillos are preparing for the 2022-23 season at the Lampasas High School summer league. The Lady Dillos have played scrimmages on Monday nights while the Dillos have suited up on Tuesday evenings.

San Saba plays scrimmages each week against teams from nearby like Lampasas, Burnet High School, Evant High School, Hamilton High School, Lago Vista High School, Lometa High School, and Marble Falls High School.

This is a great opportunity for both the Dillos and Lady Dillos to work on their offseason preparations before the upcoming regular-season starts in November as San Saba gets to play games against some smaller schools as well as a quartet of 4A schools.

The 2021-22 Lady Dillos made their second trip to the state tournament in program history (first since 2011) and finished their season with a superb 31-8 overall record, including a 10-2 mark in District 29-2A play that saw San Saba in a three-way tie for first place.

San Saba reached the state championship semifinals by winning five games over Charlotte High School, Yorktown High School, district rival Harper High School, Hearne High School, and Normangee High School in which the Lady Dillos outscored their opponents by a staggering 325-146 scoring margin during that span.

The Dillos had a great 2021-22 season under head coach Mark Kyle and finished with a 20-9 overall record with a superb 11-1 mark as District 29-2A champions. The Dillos won a bi-district championship with a thrilling 68-67 victory over Sabinal High School before being eliminated in a close 43-37 loss to Freer High School in the area round.
