With one game remaining in the District 15-A Division II season, the Richland Springs Coyotes lead with a 3-0 district record and a 9-0 record for the season. The Coyotes took home a 51 to 6 victory against the Rochelle Hornets last Friday night, after 254 total yards–146 rushing and 108 passing, ending the game early in the third quarter.
Cohen Ethridge (#13) rushed for 99 yards and three touchdowns and passed for 68 yards and two more scores. Hutton Rogers (#9) caught a 50-yard touchdown, while Brice Roesler (#6,)added a 40-yard scoring reception from Billy Perry (#17). Perry also caught an 18-yard touchdown pass and added 47 yards in rushing yards.
Jim Eckermann (#1) contributed a touchdown on a blocked kick return and finished with four tackles, including three sacks. Perry led defensively with 10 tackles and four sacks, followed by seven tackles each from Ethridge and EJ Aviles (#5) and five by Gage Behrens (#20) who also collected two sacks. Ethridge also recovered two fumbles, Rogers intercepted a pass, and Ethan Deeds (#8) had four successful kicking PATs and one passing conversion to Ethridge.
The Coyotes wrap up the regular season this Friday at their Homecoming and Senior Night game against the Lohn Eagles (5-4, 1-2).
The Lady Coyote Volleyball team secured their District Championship and will begin their playoff run next week, and the JH Coyote Football team will play in their final district game against Lohn on Thursday.
