Richland Springs Coyotes throttles Oglesby Tigers - 53-0

The Richland Springs High School varsity football team scored early and scored often on Friday, Nov. 19 as the Coyotes dismantled Oglesby High School 53-0 in the second round of the Six-Man Division 2 playoffs held at neutral site Comanche High School.

It took less than one half for the Coyotes to advance to the next round of the playoffs as Jadeyn Bryant quickly got the scoring going with a 49-yard touchdown run. A few minutes later, Bryant completed his only pass on the night for a touchdown on a 20-yard strike to Lane Garcia to put Richland Springs up 14-0 midway through the first quarter.

Following another defensive stand, the Coyotes closed the first quarter with a bang when Zane Capps had a huge 59-yard touchdown run to give Richland Springs a commanding 22-0 lead over Oglesby with just 50 seconds remaining.

After Bryant would go on to score another one-yard rushing touchdown early in the second quarter to put the Coyotes up 30-0, he would strike again less than one minute later. This time, it came on defense as Bryant picked up a fumble by the Tigers and scored yet another touchdown for the Coyotes.

When Capps scored his second rushing touchdown of the night from 15 yards out to give Richland Springs a 45-0 lead, the Coyotes put an exclamation point on a dominant first half with yet another defensive score as Kenny Triplett scooped up a Tigers fumble and ran his way in for a touchdown.

On the night, Richland Springs scored more points (53) than Oglesby had total yards (52) for the game. The Coyotes dominated the Tigers in all facets as Richland Springs has now outscored its opponents by a 673-336 margin this 2021 season.

Up next, the Coyotes (9-1 overall record) will square off in the Region IV Final at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 26 against Oakwood High School at neutral site Hico High School.
