MOE Basketball 7th/8th girls traveled to Leander, Texas, on August 1 to take part in the “2020 PAC Summer Hoopfest.”
MOE opened up pool play against CenTex Attack; Rihanna Morgan and Kelton Wright would score 9 points each in the first half to put MOE up at the half, 23-12. Wright would add 5 points in the second half to give MOE a 36-22 win.
MOE would face a very talented CenTex Seahawks team in the second pool play game to set up a much highly anticipated matchup of the top two teams in the tournament. MOE would strike first and quick, led by Jenna Lamberts' defensive play, which included several steals, Fernanda Olalde’s 7 points and Kelton Wright’s 6 points in the first half, which would help MOE jump out to a 23-5 halftime lead. The lead would prove to be too much for the Seahawks as MOE would move on to the championship game with an impressive 31-10 victory. Wright would finish with 11 points, followed by Olalde and Rihanna Morgan with 7 points each.
The Championship game would match MOE up against CE Elite. Once again, MOE would jump out to a big 21-7 halftime lead. Kelton Wright would score 9 points and Fernanda Olalde would pitch in 5 points in the first half. Wright would finish with 13 points and Rihanna Morgan with 8 points to help lead MOE to a 33-14 win and the 2020 PAC Hoopfest Championship.
