The San Saba High School varsity softball and baseball teams both picked up recent wins during their 2021 seasons in district play.

Lady Dillos Varsity Softball

Following a hard-fought 17-12 loss on Friday at Goldthwaite High School, the Lady Dillos bounced back on March 30 with a dominant 10-3 victory at home against the Medina High School Lady Bobcats.

At the top of the San Saba batting order, Kim Butler led the way for the Lady Dillos with three hits, three runs batted in, two runs scored, and one stolen base. Abigail Jimenez had two hits and scored a run, while Karlee Reed had four stolen bases, walked three times, and scored three runs on the night.

The Lady Dillos had very good pitching from Jimenez, who pitched 7.0 innings and struck out eight opposing Lady Bobcat batters to pick up the victory.

For the first time during the 2021 season, the Dillos were victorious on March 23 as they traveled to Center Point High School and put a 15-4 beatdown on the host Pirates.

As a team, the Dillos racked up a whopping 16 hits. Logan Glover was 2-for-5 with two doubles and a game-high five runs batted in, while Wesley Lackey was 4-for-5 at the plate with a triple and four RBIs. San Saba also had two players with three hits apiece: Reagan Mejia and Risien Shahan.

On the mound, San Saba got a great pitching outing from Mejia as he struck out 12 Pirate batters in 6.2 innings with four runs allowed and just one walk issued.
