The San Saba High School girls and boys varsity basketball teams remained perfect in District 29-2A play this past week as the Lady Dillos and Dillos both secured wins on the road over Johnson City High School and Harper High School.

San Saba Lady Dillos 49, Harper Lady Longhorns 27

Following an easy 71-10 road win on January 19 against the Johnson City Lady Eagles, the Lady Dillos hosted the Harper Lady Longhorns and were able to pull away in the second half for a 49-27 victory on Friday night.

San Saba senior guard Brighton Adams played superb basketball down the stretch of the game for the Lady Dillos as she led all scorers on the night with 18 points, while junior Jaedah Lambert scored 10 of her 12 points in the first half.

Lady Dillos standout senior forward Courtnee Cash and fellow junior forward Landri Glover added nine and seven points, respectively, while the San Saba team defense was again outstanding against a Harper Lady Longhorns team that entered Friday with a 15-3 record this season.

Now the second-ranked team in Class 2A this 2020-21 season, the 20-0 Lady Dillos will take their perfect record on the road at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, January 29, to take on Center Point High School.

San Saba will then have its annual Senior Night home game at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, vs. Junction High School and will wrap up its regular season on the road at 6 p.m. on Friday, February 5, in another pivotal district showdown against rival Mason High School.

San Saba Dillos 66, Harper Longhorns 48

The Dillos, who went on the road on January 19 to grind out a hard-fought 58-50 win over the Johnson City Eagles, were back at home on Friday night and got the job done with a 66-48 victory against the visiting Harper Longhorns.

San Saba, who led by as many as 30 points in the second half, shook off a bit of a slow start on offense to really blow the doors off the Longhorns with excellent three-point shooting on the night from junior guard Reagan Mejia and senior Risien Shahan.

Dillos junior guard Drake Bryant also knocked down multiple three-pointers, while senior forwards Logan Glover and C.J. Greenwood looked great on both offense and defense down in the paint.

Up next, the Dillos (13-3 overall and a perfect 7-0 in district play) will travel at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, January 29, for a district road game against Center Point before returning home at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2 to host Junction.
