Hamilton defeats San Saba

The pre-district schedule for the Armadillos (3-2) ended on a down note as the #12 team in the state Hamilton Bulldogs (5-0) came out victorious 40-21. The game was much closer than the final score indicated as a touchdown with a minute left finally put the game out of reach for the Dillos. San Saba competed well with the Bulldogs, but the bigger, more physical team from Hamilton stuck to their game plan and finally wore out the smaller Dillos with a strong run game and an attacking defense.

San Saba, along with all the teams from district 14-2A, will have a bye week before the “2nd” season begins October 11th at Johnson City.

Offensive leaders

Luke Tharp once again was the offensive force for the Dillos; Tharp Rushed for 110 yards on 16 carries (6.8 avg) and threw two touchdown passes to Levi Glover. Jason Everett rushed for 20 yards on eight carries and a score while Glover contributed with three catches for 85 yards (28.3 avg).

Defensive Leaders

From the linebacker positions, Jason Everett and Winton Lackey anchored the defense with 22 and 17 tackles. Lackey also recorded two tackles for a loss and one sack. Glover amassed 19 tackles with one interception while Colton Pierce made his presence felt from the defensive line with 10 tackles.
