Golden Armadillo Band receives First Division Rating; next contest November 14th in Burnet

The San Saba High School Golden Armadillo Band competed in the Big Country Marching Festival in Abilene this past weekend and had a very successful day. The Golden Armadillo Band received a First Division Rating from all three judges along with valuable comments to improve our show leading up to UIL.

The students have been working really hard to get the show on the field and be able to compete at a high level. This year’s UIL marching show is called “Looking Grimm” based off of Grimm’s Fairytale’s and includes Scene 1 “Hansel and Gretel;” Scene 2 “Sleeping Beauty;” and closes out with Scene 3 “Little Red Riding Hood.” Featured soloists are Kristi Macias on Flute, Jose Aguilera on Saxophone, and Virginia Diaz on Clarinet. The Color Guard soloist is Leslie Aguirre. The band is under the direction of Chans and Misty Moellendorf and is assisted by Mr. Dale Stelzer.

The Golden Armadillo Band would like to thank everyone who came out to support us this past Saturday by attending our performance. We were honored to have members of our SSISD Administration team in attendance, and many parents and friends. It means so much to our students to have supporters in the stands as they take the competition field.

The band will be competing at the UIL Region 32 Marching Contest on Saturday, November 14th, at 10:30 a.m. in Burnet. We encourage everyone to come out and support these incredible musicians as they work to advance to the next round of competition.
