It was tough Friday night for the Dillos (7-2, 4-1 in district) as they were beaten by the Cisco Lobos (7-3, 5-0 district) 48-6. The win vaulted the Lobos to district champs, while the Dillos will take the #2 spot in district 4-2A. Up next for the Dillos will be the Forsan Buffaloes this Friday at Wall; kick off time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Stats-

San Saba struggled on both sides of the ball Friday night against a big and fast Lobos team. It's never acceptable to make excuses, but when you have 6 players out on a 22 man roster, your weak spots tend to be exposed a little more. Shahan completed 11 of 15 passes (73%) and 1 passing touchdown to Wesley Lackey. Other Dillos making receptions were Reagan Mejia (3) Drake Bryant, Izaah Bessent, Lance Taylor (2) and Logan Glover with 1 reception. Leading rushers Friday night were Lackey with 26 yards followed by Shahan with 12 yards.

Defensively San Saba struggled to keep Cisco in check without their top two defensive players and gave up a season high 48 points after only allowing 13.5 points per game through 8 contests. Leading the defense in tackles this week for the Dillos was DL Bladen Calley, LB Luise Ramirez (12) S Logan Glover and DL Bryan Reza (11), and CB Reagan Mejia picked up his 3rd int of the season. The loss had several firsts for the senior class as they played their last game on Rogan Field. Since their first game in 7th grade, the senior class was previously undefeated at home, and for the first time ever will not be crowned district champs. In their six years of competitive play, they have now only lost five games total, one in 7th grade and two of those coming deep in the playoffs; it’s a pretty amazing accomplishment for any of group young men!

Bi-District Preview

San Saba will see another new opponent this week in the Forsan Buffaloes. The Buffaloes come into the first round of the playoffs as the #3 seat from district 3-2A behind the #1 seat Hawley Bearcats and the #2 seat Anson Tigers.
