Dillos open up district play with a win

San Saba (4-2) started off district play 1-0 last Friday night as they defeated the Johnson City Eagles (2-4) 38-15. Both sides of the ball looked to be running on all cylinders as the offense racked up 434 yards of total offense on 59 plays (7.3 avg) and scored on six of their 10 drives. The defense once again played solidly as they forced four punts, two fumbles, an interception and two turnovers on downs while only allowing the Johnson City’s offense to reach the end zone twice. San Saba now will turn its focus towards the Thorndale Bulldogs (4-2, 0-1 in district) in another crucial district game. Game time is scheduled for 7 o’clock in Thorndale.

Offensive leaders

Tharp rushed for 241 yards on 19 carries (12.6 avg) and scored four times. Everett carried the ball 10 times for 44 yards and one rushing touchdown, while Graden Lebow contributed 43 yards on eight carries. Glover hauled in four catches for 22 yards, Preston Gray caught two catches for 31 yards, and Skylar Romero had one reception for 38 yards.
