We are now only one month away from the San Saba High School varsity football team being in full pads and helmets with action against other schools.
The Dillos will take the field on Friday, August 12, when San Saba travels northeast to take on Rio Vista High School in the team’s first scrimmage of the 2022 preseason. They will then return home on Friday, August 19 to host Comanche High School in the second preseason game.
San Saba will then open its 2022 regular season at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 26, hosting Florence High School before hitting the road for an additional three non-district games: 7:30 p.m. on September 2 at Junction High School, 7:30 p.m. on September 9 at Johnson City High School, and 7:30 p.m. on September 16 at Eldorado High School.
The Dillos, who have moved to Region 2 as part of Class 2A-1 District 5, will then stay on the road as they start district play: at 7 p.m. on September 23 at Hamilton High School, finally returning home at 7 p.m. on September 30 to host Coleman High School, 7 p.m. on October 7 at De Leon High School, 7 p.m. on October 14 to host Bangs High School for Homecoming, 7 p.m. on October 21 at rival Goldthwaite High School, then following a bye week San Saba will have its regular-season finale at 7 p.m. on November 4 hosting Tolar High School for Parents Night.
Expect an in-depth 2022 season preview for Dillos football to be released in early August as San Saba looks to bounce back from a disappointing 2021 campaign in which the team finished with a 2-9 overall record.
