Dillo J.V. defeats Hamilton

The San Saba J.V. Dillos defeated the previously undefeated Hamilton Bulldogs in Hamilton last Thursday evening by a score of 27-6.

San Saba kicked to Hamilton. The Dillo Defense backed the Bulldogs up, but a facemask penalty bailed them out. The Hamilton offense managed to drive the ball to a score eating up the entire first quarter. The P.A.T. failed. 6-0 Hamilton.

Hamilton kicked to San Saba. Luke Thorpe had a good return. Thorpe added runs of 5, 13, 15. Graden Lebow added 5. Thorpe ran for 10, 2, and 5; Lebow 2; Thorpe 10, 7, 4 to the one-yard line. Jason Everett got the touchdown. Dawson Crawford kicked the extra point. 7-6 Dillos.

Good blocking by Jack Stewardson, Dillon Kraft, Carson Murphy, Jose Vega, Omar Landeros, Raul Solis, and Martin Macias; and Danny English made for a good drive. San Saba kicked to Hamilton. The Bulldogs scored on a double pass that was rubbed out due to a penalty. The Dillos got the ball back but fumbled the next play. Luke Thorpe intercepted a Bulldog pass. Thorpe and Everett made several good runs before halftime.

Hamilton kicked to San Saba to begin the second half. Thorpe ran for 2, then 7. Roberts added 7, Thorpe 2, Everett 5, Thorpe 2 then 4 before scoring from 10

The Dillos will attempt to continue their winning ways in district 25-2A this week when they face a long-time foe in the Coleman Bluecats. San Saba (2-3, 1-0 district) will head to Coleman (4-1, 1-0 in district) this Friday; kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. This will be the 35th time the two teams have squared off against each other, the first time coming on November 11th, 1916, when San Saba defeated the “Colemanites” 20-2. The 35th game is the ninth most played opponent for the armadillos who have played the majority of the games against the Bluecats in district play.
